What is a Kidney Function Blood Test?
They are two small secondary organs that produce urine. These are responsible for filtering toxins and achieving a balance of water, ions and pH.
Why should you get checked?
Additionally, pain can be caused by various causes and sometimes can be confused with back pain. When the kidneys are affected for various reasons, they can no longer balance salts, minerals, calcium and water.
However, please note that there are several risk groups for pain and disease:
- If you have diabetes.
- High Pressure.
- Family history of the disease.
- If you use prohibited substances.
Instructions for use:
Please take your kidney sample in the morning. We advise that you use this for at least one hour before any medication.
When collecting your blood sample, try these tips:
- Drink plenty of water. Being well-hydrated will make it easier to collect your sample.
- You can shower before you take your test or run your hands under warm water for a few minutes, as heat improves flow.
- Do light exercise (move around, walk, etc.) to get it flowing.
- Ensure your arm is below your heart level – let gravity do some of the work.
- Nails that are too long can make it difficult to collect a sample.
- Do not shake the sample vigorously, but invert the tube gently ten times. (gently swirl the tube after each drop).
- Also, do not squeeze (milk) the finger.
- And re-warm your hands during collection where needed.
5 BioMarkers
- Urea: gauges how well it is functioning.
- Creatinine: determines malfunction or failure.
- Phosphate: Is essential for producing energy, muscles, nerve function and bone growth. Measures the amount of phosphate.
- Albumin: measures the amount of protein in the transparent liquid portion.
- Bicarbonate: healthy organs help keep your bicarbonate levels in balance. Measures the amount of bicarbonate.

Drop off the parcel preferably in the morning to get the earlier box clearances. Using the Return Track24 pre-paid label on each kit, drop the package off at the nearest Royal Mail Priority Red Box to return it to the Lab.
Once your results are ready, we will send you an email with your certificate.
How long do Kidney blood test results take?
When we target a turnaround time for your results within one working day of receiving them in the laboratory, our turnaround time is a guide only, depending upon the assay run schedule.
And please take your sample from Monday to Thursday to avoid delivery delays at the lab.
Don’t forget to take your sample Monday to Thursday, as Royal Mail sample returns can take 24-48 hours, and the model should be in transit with minimal time. Also, you can visit our clinic to avoid delays and get same-day results.
