What is the Lipase Blood Test?
Lipase Blood Test – During digestion, the pancreas generates lipase. This enzyme aids in the digestion of lipids in the intestines. Lipase can diffuse into the bloodstream due to inflammation or injury to the pancreas.
A lipase blood test, commonly known as a serum lipase test, can determine whether or not lipase levels are elevated. High amounts could signal a pancreas disease or another ailment. At the same time as the lipase blood test, you may need to evaluate the levels of another enzyme called amylase. This can provide additional information that can aid in diagnosing a pancreas issue.
